MIRANDA'S BIG MISTAKE Author: Jill Mansell ISBN: 9781402218323 6/2009 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: SOURCEBOOKS
Jill Mansell’s MIRANDA’S BIG MISTAKE is a romantic romp that is fun and witty, as well as sweet and tender. It made me laugh and cry, and I enjoyed every minute of the experience. Readers will love Miranda right from the start because she is so incredibly real. She isn’t a heroine without foibles, someone so perfect she seems unreal. Rather, her poor judgment when it comes to men and relationships, as well as her little Mars bars addiction, brings her fully off the page. Another great thing about this book is that Miranda is not alone—she has a great group of friends, so sharing camping experiences and mashed potatoes with them is a delight. Of course, Miranda’s “wonderful” man Greg isn’t nearly as charming as he seems, but when things fall apart she’s fortunate to have people around her who are willing to help her pick up the pieces. Her most steadfast ally and friend, Danny, finally finds a chance to tell Miranda how he feels, but there’s no telling if she’s ready to hear him. MIRANDA’S BIG MISTAKE is charming, and shows that even the biggest mistakes can turn out well, given some luck and the unwavering support of good friends. This is a perfect summer read! Kay James |
