Tess Mallory’s HIGHLAND REBEL is so well-written I felt like I was part of the whole time-travel experience. Ellie is pulled into the swirling vortex of time, and the reader is swept into the adventure with her.

Fortunately for Ellie Graham, Ian MacGregor is willing to travel from one end of Scotland to the other in order to pull her out of the mess she’s in. After escaping the cairn where she comes to after her journey, she is grabbed by smelly Highlanders, thrown across a saddle and taken on a jarring ride across the countryside to a camp filled with more stinky, overbearing men. Is she crazy—or has she been unceremoniously dumped into an alternate time and place? And if that’s the case, how will Ellie ever return to her own time, where brownies have pecans and she spends her spare moments contemplating how a certain man looks sans trousers?

Ms. Mallory’s writing style is smooth and with enough attention to detail that I believed every bit of Ian and Ellie’s journey. HIGHLAND REBEL is a wonderful escape from ordinary life, with an ending that left a smile on this reader’s face. Well done!
