WICKED BY ANY OTHER NAME Author: Linda Wisdom ISBN: 9781402217739 2/2009 PARANORMAL Publisher: SOURCEBOOKS
Fun and fast-moving, WICKED BY ANY OTHER NAME is a lighthearted look at what happens when witches and wizards decide to stop fighting on opposite sides. In the end, they do play very well together indeed! Anastasia Romanov, who blows bubbles into the air when she hiccups, is the focus of a lawsuit which alleges she gave a romance sachet to a woman whose husband didn’t return to her. Of course, the fact that the woman has been married four times to cheating men has no impact on the state of her affairs—she blames her issues on Stasi. So when Stasi receives a papyrus informing her she is being sued, chaos erupts—and I don’t mean that figuratively. If you are a reader who can seriously suspend belief, you will enjoy this whimsical romp. Magickal bunny slippers, frozen mortals and library books who open with pages that flip without being touched fill the pages. Moonstone Lake’s witchy inhabitants become the focus of mortals who suddenly find fear in those they have trusted before. Suddenly Stasi finds herself reassuring customers that she isn’t doing anything odd to anyone, and it isn’t long before the atmosphere in Moonstone Lake is reminiscent of Salem, the home of the infamous witch hunt. Linda Wisdom pens a far-fetched romantic comedy that kept me entertained. WICKED BY ANY OTHER NAME is sure to amuse anyone who simply wants a bit of laughter with the usual romance. Nicely done!
