Always a Scoundrel by Suzanne Enoch

Lord Bramwell Johns is a wastrel, a rake, a scoundrel...and proud of it. The second son of the Duke of Levonzy, Bram is bored enough and reckless enough to break into the homes of his peers just for the excitement. But then he overhears a couple arranging the marriage of their daughter to an even more notorious rake than Bram...

Lady Rosamund likes to think of herself as practical. If she has to marry, a titled rake is better than a penniless gentleman. But what about an untitled rake? For suddenly Brams appears everywhere she is, and doing his best to sweep her off her feet. If Rose isn't careful, she may believe that reformed rakes really do make the best husbands...

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

ALWAYS A SCOUNDREL is the third installment in The Notorious Gentlemen series by Suzanne Enoch. This story is about Bram, the second son of a duke, who was born to be the spare and was treated like it his whole life. In his efforts to be noticed by his father, he takes to living on the wild and dangerous, dark side of life.

Rose is being sold to cancel her brother’s gambling debt. Her family will not listen to her pleas to find another way to handle this problem, except to hand her over to the devil.

The writing was terrific; Ms. Enoch never strayed from the main idea of the story, and she kept the storyline very interesting. I like stories like this one, where the hero is dark and dangerous, and even though love changes him a bit, he still retains that smoothness that makes him the scoundrel that we love to read about. Bram did change, but he didn’t become weak in the process, and the supporting characters like Sullivan and Phin, who had their love stories showcased in previous books, returned to lend a helping hand to Bram.

So, with all of that said, I would definitely suggest that you run out, find this book, and buy it immediately. I didn’t read the first two books, but that was okay as ALWAYS A SCOUNDREL stood well on its own. It didn’t dedicate the first five or so chapters to a follow up of previous books.
