Forbidden Nights with a Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

Vanda Barkowski is in trouble.

As the owner of a hot nightclub, she's more unconventional than most of her fellow vampires, and if some think her a little out of control, then so be it. But after three former employees filed a complaint about her temper, Vanda is sentenced to an anger management class. Worse, Phil Jones agreed to be her sponsor. Phil, the mortal who is forbidden to her . . .

If Vanda knew who—or what—Phil really is, she'd reconsider her attraction to him, for his true nature is wilder than anything she'd ever imagined. He has tackled the beast within and now is the perfect person to help Vanda with her rage . . . if only he can keep his cool when she makes him so undeniably hot. But with rogue vamps on the loose, will they ever have their forbidden nights?

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

I normally enjoy Kerrelyn Sparks stories, so I am not surprised that I like FOREBIDDEN NIGHTS WITH A VAMPIRE. Sparks' books are dependable, good for a laugh, and sexy enough for a Four-Rose read rating every time. However, I am surprised that this one isn't just the cutesy, clever, and funny read I expect her to deliver. It is much grittier, and displays a depth of emotion that I honestly never expected Sparks to let these stories take on. Surprise!

Although FOREBIDDEN NIGHTS WITH A VAMPIRE is still what I consider to be a lighter read, it deals with some heavy subjects and does so with panache. The hero is one of the hottest I have had the pleasure to meet, and the way he deals with the heroine is, well, the stuff I want in romance. They have to be the most memorable characters in this huge vampire love saga Sparks created years ago.

I am so glad Sparks has managed to keep this series from becoming stale. FOREBIDDEN NIGHTS WITH A VAMPIRE is her best one yet.
