HOT ON HER HEELS Author: Susan Mallery ISBN: 9780373773848 11/2009 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: HQN
The Lone Star Sisters quartet comes to a close with HOT ON HER HEELS. While not my favorite of the series, it grew on me as it went along. Dana Birch, the heroine, who reminded me of J.D. Robb’s Eve Dallas, was abused at home growing up, and found refuge with the Titan sisters. They have been her best friends ever since, and when they are threatened she calls herself to action, taking a leave from her police job to work on their behalf. Garth Duncan, the Titan sisters’ illegitimate brother, has been their tormentor, but now he’s starting to see that their father doesn’t care about them and that their father is his only enemy. He’s on the sisters’ side, but their suspicions land Dana in his sights. They aren’t each other’s typical type, but are what each other needs. Which was my problem with the book—I thought they fell into bed too quickly considering they both had a specific type. Other than that, I enjoyed the story and was glad to see how the conflict with father Jed was finally resolved. Mallery is becoming a must read author for me. Her new Fool’s Gold series is on its way. Can’t wait! Heather Hiestand |
