He Had to Marry Her

Everyone in London agrees the Byrons are just as "mad, bad, and dangerous to know" as their poetic non-relation. But Lord Jack Byron is facing a predicament that is scandalous . . . even for him!

Marry a young woman because he lost a bet? Unreformed rake Lord Jack Byron would do anything to get out of it. But the rich merchant who holds his debt insists Jack lead his on-the-shelf daughter to the altar . . . and make her believe it's a love match. With no options, Jack agrees, thinking he'll be shackled to a closed-in spinster.

But Grace Danvers is no milk-and-water miss. When he first encounters her in a London bookstore, Jack is struck by her tempting sensuality and soon becomes determined to bed—and wed—her (in that order!). Yet though he plans to seduce her with his touch, he never dreams he'll also want to win her with his love.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

Lord Jack Bryon has to marry a woman he’s never met, sight unseen, because he’s lost a bet. Now this man is a known gambler and always wins every hand—except this one. He scopes out his bride, Grace Danvers, and finds her beautiful and charming.

As I read this novel, I kept thinking there would be an explanation as to why, after winning countless games of cards, he happens to lose this one, but it never came. I had expected for cheating to be involved, but I was wrong.

The one thing that touched me throughout this novel was the genuine friendship the hero and heroine went through before falling in love. At every turn, despite his idiocy and not knowing his own feelings, he showed Grace just how much she meant to him. I really hadn’t been so moved in such a long time by a romance novel that I had to grab a few tissues.

SEDUCED BY HIS TOUCH is one book that I would never part with; they’d have to pull it from my cold, dead fingers. It goes on my bookshelf with my other keeper novels, to be brought out and read while waiting for the next masterpiece from this author. Brilliant!
