The True Love Quilting Club by Lori Wilde

"The pattern of a quilt will always lead you back home."

Trixie Lynn Parks changed her name to Emma, shook the dust of Twilight, Texas, off her shoes, and vowed to make it big in the city. But after twelve years of shattered dreams, she heads back to the ladies of the True Love Quilting Club . . . and to her first love, Sam Cheek.

Some things—and some people—sure have changed. Sam has grown from a carefree boy to a single dad. And even though the chemistry between them sizzles hotter than ever, Trixie Lynn quickly discovers she must choose between the fame and fortune that have finally come her way—or the one true love who has the power to mend her patchwork heart.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

Trixie Lynn Parks had dreams of making it big as an actress. Always following her mother's mantra of, “You’re gonna be a star,” leaving her hometown behind as well as Sam Cheek, her best friend, who could have been something more, she reaches for those stars. Years after failing to make it big in New York and turning down a “casting couch” proposition by a slimy director, she runs back to that place she calls home, where she meets the True Love Quilting Club. They support her, giving her what she needs to become the person she wanted to be. (I can’t tell you if that means they turn her into a star; you'll have to read the book and find that out for yourself.)

Trixie and Sam’s courtship is sweet. He is hired on to help her get over her fear of dogs so that she can be in the town’s play. Every time they’re in each other’s orbit, you can tell they wish for something more than mere friendship. I enjoyed every step of their journey toward the final realization in the end, but revealing what that is would be a major spoiler, so I can’t tell.

What I can say is that if you love a story about the friendships between women, and the bond between man and dog, then this story is for you. Would I read THE TRUE LOVE QUILTING CLUB again? Yes, I think I would.
