A TALE OF TWO DEMONS SLAYERS Author: Angie Fox ISBN: 9780505528278 2/2010 PARANORMAL Publisher: DORCHESTER
Angie Fox sets her paranormal romance A TALE OF TWO DEMON SLAYERS (Book 3 in the series) on the Greek island of Santorini, where Lizzie Brown, a demon slayer from a long line of demon slayers, and her boyfriend Dimitri, an extremely handsome shape-shifting man/griffin (part lion, part eagle), are vacationing at his family’s home. They’ve had nothing but constant battle with demons since they met, and he wants to get back to see his twin sisters who’ve been saved by Lizzie’s slaying, while Lizzie feels like she needs more training. Thankfully, her Grandma and the rest of the witches in Grandma’s biker coven will be joining them shortly, because there truly is no rest for the weary. As soon as they get to the family home—and by that I mean castle, forest, and huge estate—they find out that the tiny bit of Lizzie’s soul that Dimitri stole in order to save his sisters, has been stolen from his impregnable floor safe. And just as suddenly, there are demons and demon helpers trying to claw their way in through the castle defenses. And if that isn’t enough, Lizzie’s little Jack Russell terrier adopts a baby dragon and wants to keep him. Fox creates stories that are so chock full of action, holy terror, and romantic mayhem that it speeds by in a blur! I could barely keep up as Lizzie and company leapt from one danger to the next. And really, is it more dangerous to deal with a baby dragon that hasn’t been housebroken yet, her Grandma’s biker friends’ concoctions, or the appearance of Lizzie’s very own doppelganger? Please! Someone help me out. Lizzie is so busy that she barely gets to breathe or take in the beautiful island sights, much less sleep, when suddenly she gets her very own mentor who’s a cross between Yoda and Mr. Miyagi. When’s a girl gonna have time to romance her guy when she’s busy saving his sisters, fighting off demons, and doing her own version of wax on/wax off? Whew! I finally caught my breath when I turned the final page. Then I had to take a nap. I’m sure that Fox must be a spinning class leader when she isn’t spinning her absurdly funny paranormal romances. Readers should make sure to have a ready source of fuel available, because if they’re anything like me, they won’t be able to put this book down for anything as mundane as cooking food. Oh, and I wish I had one of Grandma’s spells while going through airport security. Wouldn’t it be great to walk through that gate thingy and not have it go off over silly little things like throwing stars? The best part is Lizzie’s realization that she needs to trust herself, because whenever she lets her instincts kick in, success follows. A TALE OF TWO DEMON SLAYERS flies as fiercely as the first two books in the series, and thankfully, can also stand on its own. The action is truly nonstop and top notch, and readers won’t even remember that nasty green slime by the time they get to the part where it looks like Lizzie might get split in two. So fun!
