CUPID CATS Author: Katie MacAlister, Vicki Lewis Thompson, Connie Brockway ISBN: 9780451230720 7/2010 ANTHOLOGY Publisher: SIGNET
CUPID CATS is a sweet anthology whose connecting thread is a shelter named Cupid Cats. All three stories are fun, quick reads, making this book a good take-along volume. Katie MacAlister's "Unleashed" brings a shapeshifting slant to feline-inspired romance. Werepanther jaguar cats? Unusual, but very interesting! Connie Brockway's "Cat Scratch Fever" was my favorite story, mostly because the characters were so poignant and realistic. I felt for the lovers, hoping they might find the courage to move forward toward some kind of happily-ever-after. Chloe and Pixie are equally wonderful. Also, Ms. Brockway's writing style charmed me! "A Cat's Game" by Vicki Lewis Thompson is sheer fun. The cat is a hoot, and the premise of a cat's pushing lovers into each other's arms had me chuckling more than once. And, I loved the name Darwin—it fit to a tee. Delightful! All in all, CUPID CATS is a great summer read. It kept this reader entertained all afternoon, and smiling well after the last page was turned. Bravo! Kay James |
