A Breath of Magic by Tracy Madison

WAITING TO EXHALE

Chloe Nichols is holding her breath. All her life, finding true happiness with a family has seemed as easy as…well, snagging a bubble off the wind—a bubble that her current boyfriend seems dead set on bursting. Yes, every time Chloe mentions her one true desire, Kyle shoots down her hopes. But he hasn’t reckoned with the awesome power of Gypsy magic, or with loyal kith and kin. One way or another, Chloe’s going to get her happily-ever-after. One could sometimes be found after you’d convinced a man he loves you, right? All Fate needs is a little puff in the right direction…

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

In this third installment of the Magic series, Chloe Nichols wants badly for her boyfriend Kyle to marry her, so in a rush to make her desire come true, she begs for her magical cousin Elizabeth to make him a cake to rid him of his pesky inability to commit. This premise, for me, made me a little upset. Messing with someone’s emotions is a big no-no, and the fact that she doesn’t seem to get the fact that what she is doing is wrong for a long while, it bugs me even more.

Alice, her sister and best friend, who can predict the future through her art, reveals another fate for Chloe, one she had drawn over a year ago. Chloe asks for signs, which she gets in spades. The fact though, that Chloe doubts this fate, even when she has seen her family’s magical abilities, puzzles me.

Despite all these silly nuisances, I have one thing to say that will probably surprise everyone who is reading this review. I really, truly loved this novel! This is the best book in the series thus far. The passion, friendship, and love that develops throughout this story is what kept me reading all through the day. I didn’t stop one moment until I read every last page, and It is what romance is all about—sweet, gentle, and with the right amount of zing in the bedroom.

Would I read A BREATH OF MAGIC again? You bet your sweet behind I would! In fact, I re-read it a bit before I wrote this review.
