Our Wicked Mistake by Emma Wildes

When blackmail turns to murder, Madeline May turns to the notorious Viscount Altea, a man used to dealing with men of ill repute, and a man she despises with every fiber of her being.

From the very moment of their first meeting-and one unforgettable night of passion—Luke Daudet knew she was different. And when he received her fateful entreaty, he knew he would not be able to stay away...

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

OUR WICKED MISTAKE is the sequel to MY LORD SCANDAL, and while an amusing read, didn’t engage me as much as the first story. I found there wasn’t enough plot, which must be why the author included a second less-than-tension-filled romance with two young members of the hero’s household. Even so, it’s not a long read.

Luke Daudet, Viscount Altea, suffered a serious disappointment during his war service and hasn’t wanted to commit to another woman romantically again. But if any woman could tempt him, it would be Madeline May, Lady Brewer. Her happy marriage now years behind her, she seeks out Luke for a sexy affair and he is happy to comply.

The rest of the plot revolves around the late Lord Brewer’s missing diary, which brings in the characters from the other two novels in the series in a minor way. Perhaps if this part of the book had more to it, I’d have found it more entertaining. Most of that plot was saved for the tail end of the book, though.
