VEIL OF SHADOWS Author: Shiloh Walker ISBN: 9780425236352 9/2010 FANTASY/SCI-FI Publisher: BERKLEY
I am not one-hundred percent sold on VEIL OF SHADOWS. I enjoyed a great deal of it but also feel I am missing some key elements, even though I read its predecessor. I was lost in that one too, so perhaps this is a pattern for me. While I find the book intriguing and unique, I am still confused about the players (what was the point of the character Vena?) and just exactly what are these characters doing anyway? I know what the book says they are doing there, but really, it seems as though they are doing much of nothing. I don't want to sound like I don't care for VEIL OF SHADOWS because I do; but for me, it is a hard book to completely understand. What I do understand of the story I enjoy, and what I don't understand I just skim over. Maybe that is not the best way to conduct a review, but I want to be honest about it. Filled with magic, science-fiction, and a hot romance, VEIL OF SHADOWS is a decent read that can be confusing in some sense, but it is still worth my time. Shannon Johnson |
