VAMPIRE MINE Author: Kerrelyn Sparks ISBN: 9780061958045 4/2011 PARANORMAL Publisher: AVON
VAMPIRE MINE gets a Top-Pick from me because of the complex themes it addresses with love. Perhaps this sounds corny, but Sparks pulls it off without being preachy. What she does is create incredibly thoughtful scenes instead. I suppose when writing about a fallen angel and a vampire falling in love, a lot of soul-searching comes into play. The story isn't super romantic; the hero and heroine are in love within a few hours, so there isn't a lot of time for romance. Love at first sight works here. I wish for more time between the hero and heroine and a bit more suspense in the plot, but the book works simply because the idea is so great and the characters get a lot accomplished in a small amount of time. Unique doesn't cover it, but is the closest term I can find to describe the way supposed good and evil can be brought together. Well written and most thought provoking, VAMPIRE MINE is a gem.
