The Many Sins of Lord Cameron by Jennifer Ashley
He is a man of simple tastes—and complex pleasures...

Cameron Mackenzie is a man who loves only horses and women— in that order—or so his mistresses say.

Ainsley Douglas is a woman with a strong sense of justice and the desire to help others—even if that means sneaking around a rakish man's bedchamber.

Which is exactly where Cam finds her—six years after he caught her the first time. Only then, she convinced Cam she was seeking a liaison, but couldn't go through with it because of her husband. Now a widow, she's on a mission to retrieve letters that could prove embarrassing to the queen. Cam has no interest in Ainsley's subterfuge, but he vows to finish what they started those many years ago. One game, one kiss at a time, he plans to seduce her. And what starts out as a lusty diversion may break Cam's own rules—and heal the scars of a dark and damaging past...

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

Jennifer Ashley has given me hope for historical romance.  Throughout her Highland Pleasures series, she has kept her characters  consistent, lovable, and believable.  THE MANY SINS OF LORD CAMERON is no different.

Ainsley Douglas returns in this book as Cameron MacKenzie’s love interest, and a great match for him she turns out to be.  To ensure readers of a full story, we learn about the couple’s past history together, as well as their separate pasts.  I thought this was a really good book.  I woke up one morning and read the whole thing before starting my day.  The love scenes, especially, progressed exceptionally wellthere was never a feeling that they were stuck there just to have a sex scene.  Ashley even had a few surprises, which tend to be rare in historicals.  There was the perfect amount of Cameron’s family included; the MacKenzie’s didn’t smother them, and they weren’t completely absent.  I loved Daniel’s protective streak.

If there was anything that could be changed, it would be to have a bit more of the story told from Cameron’s perspective, as a lot of information was filtered through Ainsley.  Still, with this story, Jennifer Ashley has solidified her place on my list of Must Reads.
