HOLIDAY KISSES Author: Shannon Stacey, Jaci Burton, Helenkay Dimon, Alison Kent ISBN: 9781426892738 12/2011 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: CARINA PRESS
I positively adore holiday romances. When November hits, I start my hunt, and this year I came across HOLIDAY KISSES, which features a story from Shannon Stacey, a recent addition to my Authors to Watch list. Each story in this anthology is centered around Christmas and differ from your run-of-the-mill holiday romances. The first two novellas were decent, but the last two were the standouts of the anthology. The third, written by HelenKay Dimon, was my favorite, possibly due to its more light-hearted nature when compared to the other stories. It was cute, funny, sweet, and I developed quite a crush on Austin. With limited pages, Dimon easily tells a complete story that is both humorous and heartwarming. The last novella of HOLIDAY KISSES was probably the most moving. It was easy to see the two characters falling in love with each other. Stacey dealt with the delicate subject well and wrote a believable story about Justin and Claire finding their way to each other after the death of Brendan, Justin’s best friend and Claire’s husband. With the exception of the first, each story featured characters that already knew each other, a smart decision writing for an anthology. Christina Baker |
