In the second half of the Domestic Gods series, Robin Kaye focuses on Ben Walsh’s Idaho cousins, and Hunter Kincaid is up first. Hunter’s job as a guide has landed him with an assignment leading a group of models on a photo shoot. It isn’t one of the models, however, who catches Hunter’s eye. It’s the goth woman in charge—Toni Russo. I liked these characters together, but the Kincaid siblings may have been the standouts for me. There were several amusing moments whenever they appeared. Though their mother and grandfather also appear, the family wasn’t extremely intrusive. One issue I had was that Toni’s inexperience with relationships came across a bit false, and as you learn about her character, there didn’t seem to be any reason at all for her to dress as she did. It didn’t fit with her personality and didn’t even seem as if she truly enjoyed dressing that way. Christina Baker |
