666 Park Avenue by Gabriella Pierce
What if your mother-in-law turned out to be an evil, cold-blooded witch . . . literally?

Ever since fabulously wealthy Malcolm Doran walked into her life and swept her off her feet, fledgling architect Jane Boyle has been living a fairy tale. When he proposes with a stunning diamond to seal the deal, Jane can't believe her incredible luck and decides to leave her Paris-based job to make a new start with Malcolm in New York.

But when Malcolm introduces Jane to the esteemed Doran clan, one of Manhattan's most feared and revered families, Jane's fairy tale takes a darker turn. Soon everything she thought she knew about the world—and herself—is upended. Now Jane must struggle with newfound magical abilities and the threat of those who will stop at nothing to get them.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

It appears that chick lit isn’t as dead as everyone may have thought—it’s just been repackaged. 666 PARK AVENUE is chick lit at its best.

Jane Boyle is an orphan living in Paris when she meets her prince, Malcolm. When Malcolm proposes, Jane can’t wait to finally have the family she never had. Except, right before Jane moves to New York to begin planning the wedding, she finds out that she’s descended from a long line of powerful witches—witches who will want to steal her power.

666 PARK AVENUE was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the world Pierce built and seeing Jane’s introduction to the crazy Doran clan. My one complaint is that it takes more than half the book to get to the part where Jane realizes what the reader already knows. This made the first half of the book seem to drag in parts, and the end seemed rushed. I know that there’s already another book in the series planned, but I just wished that there was a little more “meat” to this book, and maybe not quite as much set up.

That being said, I completely devoured 666 PARK AVENUE, and I very much look forward to the next book, THE DARK GLAMOUR.
