Pale Demon by Kim Harrison
Condemned and shunned for black magic, Rachel Morgan has three days to get to the annual witches’ conference and clear her name, or be trapped in the demonic ever-after . . . forever after.

But a witch, an elf, a living vampire, and a pixy in one car going across the country? Talk about a recipe for certain disaster, even without being the targets for assassination.

For after centuries of torment, a fearsome demon walks in the sunlight—freed at last to slay the innocent and devour their souls. But his ultimate goal is Rachel Morgan, and in the fight for survival that follows, even embracing her own demonic nature may not be enough to save her.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

PALE DEMON is my least favorite in the Hollows series of books featuring Rachel Morgan, witchy demon extraordinaire. However, that doesn't make it any less worth reading. I'm just getting the negative out of this review fast, so I can move on to the good stuff!

While Rachel and my man, er... pixy, Jenks, are still as compelling as ever, the series is losing a bit of its luster for me. I think this one is a bit of a filler read, with no really "new" things to offer (discounting Trent's mission), and yet, it does sum up some questions from the past. Actually, at the dead end it explains why some things went down and are continuing to unfold the way they are, so I suppose it can be considered worth reading for that alone.

I will always love this series and consider Harrison a ground-breaker in the paranormal arena. The road trip her characters are on this time around explains more than intrigues, which brings forth some humorous and thought-provoking scenes. Things seem steady at the end of PALE DEMON, so I cannot help but wonder just what is in store for Rachel Morgan and her band of supernatural friends next.
