Military romantic suspense meets the Alaskan outback in the sexy thriller COVER ME. Catherine Mann introduces the Pararescuemen, an elite military group not just trained in SEAL-like tactics, but also in medical rescue.

Wade Rocha, aka Brick, is taking part in a training exercise when his team gets word that they need to rescue a stranded climbing party in the Aleutian Islands. He thinks he has rescued someone after parachuting in, but he’s come across the wrong person.

Sunny Foster is an outdoor expert and guide whose snowmobile happened to break down just in time for her to meet a real life hero. But with a brother who is AWOL from the military, he’s the last person she’d want to get involved with. When they discover that residents of her small, isolated town are being murdered, she has to face the larger world with Wade at her side.

I appreciated reading about a new brand of American hero. Effort was taken to humanize at least one of the villains as well, in the band of eco-terrorists wreaking havoc in the story. A deaf secondary character adds additional interest as well.

This is the first of the Elite Force series. Book 2, HOT ZONE, is scheduled for December.
