In the Heat of the Bite by Lydia Dare
Chivalry is far from undead...

Matthew Halkett, Earl of Blodswell, is one of the few men in the ton who can claim to be a knight in shining armor- because that's precisely what he was before being turned into a vampyre. When he spies a damsel in distress in the midst of a storm in Hyde Park, his natural instinct is to rush to her aid...

But not every woman needs to be rescued...

Weather-controlling witch Rhiannon Sinclair isn't caught in a storm-she's the cause of it. She's mortified to have been caught making trouble by the imposing earl, but she doesn't need any man-never has, and is sure she never will...

But when Rhiannon encounters Matthew again, her powers go awry and his supernatural abilities run amok. Between the two of them, the ton is thrown into an uproar. There's never been a more tempestuous scandal...

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

IN THE HEAT OF THE BITE is writing team Lydia Dare’s sixth book in a connected series revolving around a group of Scottish witches. The first four books featured werewolf heroes and now they’ve moved on to vampire heroes.

Dare’s books take a lighthearted approach to the paranormal and are definitely Regency romps. The heroine is nineteen in this novel, and there is lots of giggling going on. I loved the clever tagline on the cover: “She makes him feel more alive than he has since he died….” Seriously, how cute is that with a vampire hero?

Weather-witch Rhiannon Sinclair came to London chasing after her younger sister, who has been promised a Season with their greedy, non-magical aunt. When Rhiannon has a temper tantrum after speaking to her aunt, and spews bad weather all over a park, Matthew Halkett, Earl of Blodswell, and a more than six-hundred-year-old vampire, is caught in the storm—and enchanted by the girl. Thus ensues much light drama and angst between witches, werewolves and vampires making up the world of this series.

If you have been following Dare’s books, you are sure to be enchanted. This novel also reads quite well as a standalone.
