The Reluctant Vampire by Lynsay Sands
Has this immortal finally met her match?

Rogue hunter Drina Argenis (from the Spanish side of the Argeneau family) has been many things in her years as an immortal, but bodyguard/babysitter to a teenage vampire is something new. There's an incentive, however: the other vampsitter, Harper Stoyan, may be Drina's life mate.

Trouble is, having just lost a life mate, Harper is resigned to being alone. He's completely unprepared when sexy and unpredictable Drina bursts into his life to reignite his passions. Can Drina, with a little matchmaking help from their teen charge, tempt this reluctant vampire to take a chance?

Or will a dangerous, unseen renegade kill Drina and Harper's one chance at happiness?

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

I love the Argeneau clan, and it just keeps growing and growing. This one features a Spanish side of the family heroine and her reluctant Canadian life-mate. In case you were curious, yes, this latest coupling is the result of Marguerite and her legendary manipulating of her friends and family. And, as always, the rest of the clan is mixing fun and love with their natural craziness while still on the hunt for Leonius.

THE RELUCTANT VAMPIRE isn't so much about one particular couple as it is about family. Poor victimized Stephanie has a host of couples trying to protect and take care of her, and to say they are challenged at every turn is an understatement. Arranging for a new "turn", Stephanie's freaky mind reading ability and the mystery of who is trying to take her out (or bring her in) keeps the main couple from taking center stage. However, Sands does a great job of throwing me off the scent of the real culprit and keeps the heat in the romance of Drina and Harper. Sands talent for doing this is no doubt why I love reading these stories in the first place!

THE RELUCTANT VAMPIRE is definitely a building block for whatever exciting conclusion Sands no doubt has planned for the group and the revenge they all want on Leonius. I am most curious about what will happen to teenage Stephanie, and hope she is allowed to develop into a character worthy of her own story. As for Drina and Harper, I have no doubt their happily-ever-after is guaranteed.
