HUNGER UNTAMED is my first foray into the Feral Warriors world created by Pamela Palmer. I do find the book interesting, since magic, sorcery, shape-shifting, and mating for life are some of the main ideas featured in it. What I don't necessarily care for is the relationship between the hero and heroine, and the weird "Hook-eye" name for the villain. I realize that what I read is fantasy, but some things in here stretch the limit of my imagination. Naming a villain "Hook-eye", for example, is one of them. It isn't enough to deter me from recommending the book, but it is something I don't like about it. Okay, I giggled a little when I read it, but it wasn't an outright chuckle. I also don't quite feel the connection between the hero and heroine. I know that in every story, conflict can really fuel the romance, but this story would have been a whole lot better if the heroine just would have told the hero what was going on in the first place. I suppose that maybe the storyline could have been about them fighting the Magi together, and the conflict between the hero and heroine's clan, but it isn't. So, I will never know, I guess. There are certain aspects of HUNGER UNTAMED that I enjoyed—the Illinas, the Warriors, and magic—but some parts are just over the top. Shannon Johnson |
