The Sinner by Margaret Mallory
IRRESISTIBLE DESIRE

Alex MacDonald is known for his skill as a warrior, his prowess with women, and his vow to never take a wife. But now his chieftain has asked him to make the ultimate sacrifice: wed Glynis MacNeil, a lass famed throughout the Highlands for her exquisite beauty-and defiant ways.

Familiar with heartbreak, Glynis refuses to fall for another handsome scoundrel. Yet when Alex's past sins force an unlikely union, Glynis gives in to temptation and becomes his wife. Will their newfound passion be strong enough to fight the enemy that threatens their home, their clan, and their very lives?

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

The first time Alexander Ban MacDonald meets Glynis MacNeil, her face is covered in spots and she is wearing padded clothes to look fat.  She would do anything not to find another husband.  But Alex catches on real quick when her spots start running.  Glynis had not needed her disguise, because Alex was not interested in marrying anyway.  Alex, the Sinner, was having too much fun with all the women he seduced along his way.  But things would change when Glynis escapes with him to hide from her ex-husband Magnus Clanranald, begging him to take her to Edinburgh.

Margery Mallory takes us through the Isles of Scotland, in the sixteenth century, with true-to-life characters, wonderful descriptions, and an interesting time of history.  She will make you laugh at some of the dialogue and thoughts of her two protagonists, and her plot moves smoothly along keeping the reader guessing what could be next.

THE SINNER is an exceptional novel that I thoroughly enjoyed.  Even if Scotland stories were not my all-time favorite, I would still recommend this story in the highest regard.  It was great!  Read it!
