HIGHLAND HERO Author: Amanda Scott ISBN: 9780446574303 10/2011 HISTORICAL Publisher: GRAND CENTRAL
Our Highland hero, Sir Ivor Mackintosh, aka Hawk, is in charge of taking Jamie Stewart, Lord Carrick, possible heir to the throne of Scotland, when he is only seven and one-half years old, to safety. His mother, Queen Annabella, had just died, but not before telling her husband, King Robert III, she feared for her youngest son’s life. He quietly and secretly sent for Hawk to take his son to Bishop Traill, the Bishop of St. Andrews, for safekeeping, until the time when he may have to become king. His Mistress of the Nursery, Henrietta Childs, and Marsaili Drummond Cargill, a beautiful, young Lady who had been under the protection of the now dead queen, were with the young Lord as he escaped under darkness of the night. HIGHLAND HERO is a magnificent story of heroes, danger, deception, justice, love, and romance in the wonderful wilds of fifteenth century Scotland. Amanda Scott, the author of this masterly, exceptional story, is like fine wine. She gets better, year after year after year. The plot moves rapidly from the first page, never becoming dull, but holding the interest of the reader through to the end. I just couldn’t lay it down for a minute. If you like historical romances, and/or Scotland stories, do not hesitate to buy this book. It is not just a keeper; it is worth recommending to all your friends, as I have just done.
