In Total Surrender by Anne Mallory
Andreas Merrick is the king of London’s dark underworld, having amassed unimaginable wealth and power . . . and a fierce reputation that leaves even the bravest men quaking in their boots. Yet one person is maddeningly unintimidated by his fearsome presence: the persistent Miss Phoebe Pace.

And one kiss always leads to another . . .

Equal parts honey and steel, Phoebe will stop at nothing to find her missing brother and save her family. Though associating with Andreas means peril and scandal, she never expects to experience a passion so intense that it threatens to consume her. But enigmatic Andreas is no ordinary man to love. He brings dangers from all sides— without and within—while tempting her beyond her wildest dreams . . .

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

In this much awaited (by me!) second Merrick brother's tale, IN TOTAL SURRENDER reminds me of why I like Anne Mallory's writing so much. She knows how to engage, keep, and ultimately fulfill a reader's desires. She works her magic beautifully here, and Andreas Merrick manages to surpass his brother Roman's tale, a feat that I never imagined would happen. After all, Roman was dangerously close to usurping my number five hottest heroes of all time!

Uncompromising, unyielding, and unchanging are the terms I choose to describe both the hero and heroine in this story. It is amazing how they work so well together, considering all of the above. But, since they are both fierce, protective, and ultimately determined to win, I suppose I should not be so surprised. Andreas is one tough hero, and I love how Mallory makes him so attuned to everything. His heroine Phoebe is deceptively astute, and quite determined to protect her secrets. They are marvelous together, and Mallory again has a beautiful winner of a romantic story on her hands.

As sorry as I am to see the Merrick brothers stories conclude, I am very happy to have met them both. There are no other heroes like them, and I am glad they got the stories they deserve.
