 RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:
On his way to formally court Rionna McDonald, Alaric McCabe and his men are ambushed. He is saved by Keely Fraser, who nurses him back to health until his brother and clan arrive. Noting how well the young woman has cared for his brother, laird Ewan McCabe forces her to return to their land with them.
I fully expected Rionna to be paired with Alaric with the way IN BED WITH A HIGHLANDER ended. But Keely appears and steals the middle McCabe’s heart. I liked the match of the two characters and the way Maya Banks portrayed the desperation and doomed nature of their relationship. My favorite part of the novel is near the end, when Keely saves Alaric again. It is, perhaps, the sweetest scene in the entire story.
