RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:
LOVE, COME TO ME is a re-release of one of Lisa Kleypas' early works. I'd never read it, so it was new to me. I have to tell you, it was refreshing to read a historical novel not set in Regency England. An American historical with a hot hero and somewhat spoiled, but redeemable, heroine completely pulled me in. I ate this one up.
Lucy is betrothed to a man who isn't keen to marry. She has a fit of temper, falls into icy water when she storms out and heads home, and is rescued by the real man of the story, Heath. I laughed out loud when he kissed her, then tells her not to do that with her fiancee because he'll wonder where she learned to kiss so well! What fun! The fact that Heath is someone she feels wary around is good, because Lucy has a tendency to be too full of herself. The balance here is ideal, and the relationship grows so smoothly it's almost like seeing it come to life, rather than reading it.
Lisa Kleypas is one of my favorite authors. I love her characters and the dynamics between them. This book doesn't disappoint. This romance is delightful!
