Viscount Breckenridge to the Rescue by Stephanie Laurens
You are cordially invited to the wedding of Miss Heather Cynster …but not before she encounters kidnappers, danger, and a daring rescue at the hands of Viscount Breckenridge

Determined to hunt down her very own hero, one who will sweep her off her feet and into wedded bliss, Heather Cynster steps out of her safe world and boldly attends a racy soiree. But her promising hunt is ruined by the supremely interfering Viscount Breckenridge, who whisks her out of scandal—straight into danger, when a mysterious enemy seizes her, bundles her into a coach, and spirits her out of London.

Now it’s up to the notorious Breckenridge to prove himself the hero she’s been searching for all along…

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

The beginning romance book to the Cynster Series Trilogy, VISCOUNT BRECKENRIDGE TO THE RESCUE, is a good way to introduce what is billed as "Three heroes, three rescues, three weddings." Although this one is bit silly for me, Laurens is a great writer, so perhaps, as the saga continues, the stories will get better.

Allowing the heroine to play along with her kidnapping when she could be rescued is a great hook for a story, yet also a silly one. I realize Laurens built this book along that particular storyline, but at times, it borders on ridiculous. The heroine is able to rationalize why she should not be rescued by the hero, and the first time she does this, I completely understand her reasoning. However, as the story escalates as do the villains' temperaments, it becomes an irrational train of thought. The same can be said for the romance. Clearly, both the hero and heroine desire to be together, but both are too stubborn to admit it. Instead of driving my need to see them finally get together, their constant bickering and refusal to acknowledge their feelings is a silly waste of time.

Not my favorite read of Laurens, VISCOUNT BRECKENRIDGE TO THE RESCUE has some appeal, but doesn't measure up to what I normally expect from her. Again, perhaps as the series progresses, so will my excitement for it.
