My Ruthless Prince by Gaelen Foley
The Inferno Club: To London Society, they're notorious for their scandalous pursuits. In private, these warriors would risk their lives for king and country.

His brother warriors fear the Earl of Westwood has turned traitor, but Emily Harper knows this is impossible for the man she has loved since childhood . . . as impossible as a marriage between them could ever be—she, the gamekeeper’s daughter and he, a bold and adventurous nobleman.

Driven by hatred and revenge, Westwood is playing a deadly game of deception, bent on destroying the enemy’s dark conspiracy from the inside, and he’s furious when Emily plunges herself into danger for his sake. Forced into close quarters, their long-suppressed desire explodes into all-consuming passion.

Emily knows her love can save him . . . but Westwood is a man who doesn’t want to be saved.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read (3/14/12)

By the time I finished MY RUTHLESS PRINCE, I was convinced that this was the happy ending I so desperately wanted for the Inferno Club members. Until I read the excerpt for the next in the series and quickly remembered the a club member I forgot, most certainly deserves a story of his own! In my defense, the hero featured in MY RUTHLESS PRINCE is pretty distracting.

I was so hoping that Foley would give the Earl of Westwood a great story, but she took it to the next level and gave him an unforgettable one. It has everything he deserves and so much more. He gets to be himself, a true hero, masquerade as a ruthless villain, and finds his perfect love match in his feisty childhood love. Together they make the ideal team, ready and willing to do whatever it takes to save the world.

There is never a dull moment in-between the pages of MY RUTHLESS PRINCE, and I loved every minute of it.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: (12/16/11)

MY RUTHLESS PRINCE is the fourth book in Foley's Inferno Club series, this time featuring Drake, the Earl of Westwood, and Emily Harper, his commoner childhood friend. I'd like to say it's not necessary to read the other three books in this series first, but knowing the backdrop and history of how Drake goes over to the "Dark Side" will help clarify some of the characters for readers unfamiliar with this series. There's nothing worse than feeling a little bit lost, and honestly, that's how I felt many times when certain characters were introduced and woven into the story's plot, without my knowing their background.

Foley begins MY RUTHLESS PRINCE with plenty of suspenseful action, bullets flying everywhere, and the heroine holding her own. It's one of the things I love most about Foley's books and the way she writes her stories. She can put me on the edge of my seat and immerse me right into the thick of things; I'm there alongside Emily—and Drake, for that matter—when the going gets rough and the tough get going. However, I have a disconnect issue where Drake and Emily's relationship is concerned. To put it simply, I'm just not feeling the love here, and Drake turned out to be an alpha male character I really didn't care for. Too much of a Jekyll and Hyde character for me, both in his actions and the decisions he makes that most of the time involve Emily. The special spark that makes a romance cohesive and hot was missing between these two for me, and I struggled a lot with that as the story wound down to its not-so-unexpected conclusion.

While MY RUTHLESS PRINCE may not be one of my favorite of Foley's romances, I will recommend it for the great action sequences and Foley's writing style alone. Perhaps if I had read the previous three books in this series first—MY WICKED MARQUESS, MY DANGEROUS DUKE, and MY IRRESISTIBLE EARL—my review would have been more on the positive side. The fifth book in this series, MY SCANDALOUS VISCOUNT, is scheduled for release in the latter part of 2012.
