RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERING:

First and foremost I now want to visit the Greek Isles. This author brought the excitement of Greece alive and created a wonderful ambiance for her setting.

Having said that, unfortunately, I found Ms. Gould has created a nice plot in a beautiful setting, but she never quite pulls the reader in. All the pieces fell together nicely, almost systematically, and I easily foresaw the ending long before it came to fruition. This is my first read of Ms. Gould and I would give her another try definitely, but this particular story seemed very formulated -- the prerequisite suspense/love story where two people meet under interesting circumstances, with usually the hero saving the heroine from whatever dire suspence threads it all together, all whilst "falling in love." Not that this is a bad formula, but it just lacked the excitement of the suspence and the excitement of falling in love.

The characters were very stereotypical, successful male meets the nice girl next door type. The banter between hero and heroine is almost non-existant, and what does exist is simply boring. Even the usual dialogue of the other characters seemed forced with alot of unneccessary exchange offering nothing to the scene or plot. I also believe the hero and heroine needed a little more angst simply to be believable. Nobody gets along with someone 24/7 and even the sex scenes followed the same path -- everything came off as expected almost to the point that we feel they've been married for a very long time (not that there is anything wrong with that *snort* ) rather than just falling in love.

Overall, if you want to experience the sights and sounds of Greece, you may love it. If you're looking for a fast paced, exciting romance/suspence I think you'll be highly disappointed. But then, that's just me....
