Queen of Illustrated Romance, Fantasy, Adventure and Dreams
Stacy E Walker is fantasy personified. Known for her honesty, friendliness and great sense of humor, Stacy is a diva admired by fans and illustrators the world over.
I remember when I saw Stacy for the first time in Toronto for the
Romantic Times Convention. She was posing with Ryan Storm in a hotel’s outdoor garden. At first glance my overactive imagination perceived her as a fierce warrior, a seductive siren, or cunning pirate queen. She is pure fantasy come to life!
I enjoyed her sense of humor and her incredible costumes throughout the convention, but when I saw her display at the book fair, featuring Heavy Metal magazines, comic book covers, fantasy illustrations. I became an instant fan.
Who is this incredible woman who describes herself as “Lucille Ball
trapped inside Raquel Welch’s body”? Checking out Stacy’s website a few months later, I learned that she is much, much more than a model. Her bio states that she is a “actress, singer, dancer, character creator and story developer”.
As quoted from her website, “My personal revolution is to inform and inspire, to educate and even elevate the infinite range of individual possibility. I want to bring a whole new dynamic to the challenging new world out there and be counted among the groundbreakers who are making difference in it. Men and women alike long for romance and adventure. I know I do. My intention is to develop creative entertainment that people can enjoy at all levels. I want to take people on a constant journey through my world between the real and imagined, providing them the ultimate escape from everyday reality.”
When I found out she was making an appearance at Wizard World here in Chicago, I jumped at the chance to ask for a little interview to learn more about her.
Deb: Hi Stacy. It's great to see you again. Please tell us what's going on? What's new?
Stacy: Everything and anything. Right now I'm promoting the latest September issue of Heavy Metal magazine along with the 2002 calendar which has 2 illustrations of me featured on it. Those illustrations were the best selling covers for them. I just did a Vampirella cover and I'm doing a very secretive project with Gene Simmons which we just talked about and that's going to happen. It is going to be very very exciting. And I'm going to be doing more pinups with Greg Hildebrandt. There's all kinds of exciting things.
Deb: I've read that KISS is a big influence on you, and saw that you made an appearance on VH1's Fan Club. That was totally great! Who were your other influences or role models while growing up?
Stacy: Mostly Raquel Welch. I also loved Sophia Loren, but I really had a thing for Raquel Welch and still do. I stayed at my hotel room last night because she was going to be on 20/20. I skipped out on the dinner just so I could see her on TV. Yeah, she's a really big, big influence for me.

Deb: I've read that Barbie is also a big influence on you too?
Stacy: Yes, I love Barbie. She has everything. She always looks great. She can be anything she wants to be, and everybody supports her. So why not want to be Barbie.
Deb: You have been on many covers for romance and fantasy, and I understand that you personally have a love of comics as well. Is there any particular character that you enjoy portraying?
